Robert Joe “RJ” Johnson passed away on December 30, 2020 at the age of 87.

Robert was born on July 17, 1933 in Dallas, TX to Robert Johnson and Ophelia Thomas. At age 18, Robert enlisted in the US Navy on September 30, 1951. During his time in the Navy, he served tours in the Korean and Vietnam Wars as an Equipment Operator Second Class in the United States Naval Construction Battalions, better known as the Navy Seabees, form the U.S. Naval Construction Force. As a Seabee, Robert was deployed to construct bases, build airfields, roads, bridges, and other support facilities. After 25 years of service, Robert retired from the Navy on November 1, 1976 in San Diego, CA and moved to Los Angeles, CA. Years later, Robert settled in Pasadena, CA where he lived for the remainder of his life.
Robert is survived by his sister, Betty Ashley of Garland, TX along with countless nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Maggie Bell Johnson.
