I had the pleasure of meeting Marcus in 2003 when I went to work in Executive Relations at Bank of America, and continued to work with Marcus over the next 12 years. Marcus learned 2 things quickly, he could make me mad, and make me laugh. Thankfully for our friendship, they usually occurred in that order too. He always offered words of wisdom, whether it was regarding office politics, relationships, or faith. Some made you cringe, and some really was profound. :-) He had such a caring heart. He was always concerned about others, and sincerely would reach out to offer help. He knew when I was going through some difficult times in my life that I was looking for a new church home, and he invited me to church. I called Victory Bible my church home for almost 6 years and got to see Marcus shine in a different setting. He took pride and honor in serving as an Armor Bearer to Bishop White. Marcus was someone who was loyal and I respected that about him. A true (like he liked to refer to himself) “OG” . But not like the kind the youngsters refer to these days. We are talking about the old school “OG’s” , you know the Teddy Pendergrass type of “OG”. I am so grateful and feel blessed to have called him a friend. When I think of Marcus I see his huge smile, hear his deep laugh, and him using one of his famous Marcusism’s “Trust and Believe....” and I can’t help but smile. :-) You will be deeply missed Sir.

Marcus was a gentleman. I remember when came up to me one Sunday and said to me Mrs Mary, I wanted you to know I call you that because I truly respect you. Such a kind thing to say, from a kind person. Just the small things makes a difference.
Betty and family my condolences, from me and my daughters.

I met Marcus when I moved to the Los Angeles area in 2000 working for Bank of America.
He was heavy on my heart the end of October.
When I went on vacation to Florida he said only you white people would kayak with alligators. I told him “I ain’t right Marcus” and we laughed ...just one of many laughs we shared. I may be a bit crazy Marcus but I am a better person for having known you and for your sharing your wisdom and faith with me.
You will be dearly missed. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. May he Rest In Peace.

Rest In Peace, Marcus. I actually thought of you just yesterday, crazy. He was my manager at BofA back in the late 90’s and definitely saved my behind over there on several occasions. He didn’t even give me grief when I called in sick on a Sunday to be in the DooDah Parade where I skated with my hockey team and shot bagels at the crowd. On Monday morning he asked me how I was feeling, I said better, then he asked me if I could get him a bagel! I was SO caught, but he just laughed that hearty laugh of his and said that he and his kids saw me at the parade and were even shouting at me to shoot a bagel their way.
He was a great guy, a great boss and a kind man. Condolences to his family.
